The site of George Adamson's first camp, Elsa's Kopje is named after Elsa, the orphaned lioness reared by George and Joy Adamson and returned to the wild here. Elsa's Kopje is a stylish wilderness retreat, offering breathtaking 360 views of the surrounding plains and wetlands below. It consists of eight stone cottages, each individually designed to incorporate the rocks into an open plan architecture. Here guests enjoy the Italian influenced cuisine for which Cheli & Peacock are famous.
A sister camp to Tortilis and Laikipia Camps. Elsa's Kopje guests virtually have Meru National Park to themselves. Enjoy game drives in open 4WD vehicles, guided nature walks, fishing, night game drives and rafting on the Tana River. Try a bush breakfast, picnic or sundowner, or a bush dinner under the stars. Head out to explore the nearby Kora National Park for the day; relax in the lodge, take a dip in the pool or browse in the library.
