Built by General Martin Miguel de Guemes' mother with title deeds dating back to 1609, El Bordo de las Lanzas is one of the oldest estancias in Argentina. Located 25 kilometres from Jujuy, El Bordo is very well located for the exploration of the Humuhuaca Gorge and all guests are guaranteed a warm reception from their hospitable hosts.

The charming main house has 7 comfortable en suite bedrooms, home to an important collection of colonial furniture and 17th Century religious paintings, and vestiges of its colonial roots can be found throughout the property. The home made cooking draws heavily on local crillo recipes and where possible uses the estancia's own produce including jams, tropical fruit and vegetables.

The estancia itself farms Virginia tobacco, barley, sugar cane and cotton and is a paradise for birdwatchers, surrounded by nature with trees, rivers and man-made lakes. Activities offered from the estancia include horse riding and walking up into the hills and there are thermal springs nearby and a swimming pool.
