Trip Summary
We suggest starting in Lima, a good base for the start of any journey in the spectacular country of Peru, it allows easy access to many highlights of the country. Head to Cusco, the former Incan capital of Peru and discover the interesting history by wondering through it streets. Take time to notice the mystery of many of the stone walls - it is still much debated as to how they were constructed.

The Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu make for an excellent next stop from Cusco. They offer the chance to explore the heart and soul of the Incan society, marvel at how they transformed the landscape, terracing the land to create unique micro climates. Machu Picchu has deservedly become one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, a whole city built on a mountain top. Overnight at a hotel nearby and get up early to watch sunrise over the ruins.

Fly north to Quito in Ecuador for the beginning of a journey to the Galapagos Islands. A UNESCO capital city, Quito can charm you with its cobbled streets leading you to the wonderful colonial architecture which gives the great character to the Old Town. The airport is a short drive away where you will board your three and a half hour flight to the Galapagos and it is here that you will see the true abundance and wealth of wildlife these fascinating islands and waters are home to. Hike along the trails with your guide to learn more about the geology of the land and the creatures which have evolved to survive there.  With no large land predators on the islands the creatures there have no fear of humans which means you can experience unforgettable up close encounters with them.
