A little more about Rosarios Islands & Isla Baru
The Rosarios Islands lie 35 km off the coast of Cartagena, making for an ideal, easy to reach beach destination with a real focus on relaxation. Made up of 27 islands, many of which are only large enough for one house, the archipelago is now a national park offering white sandy beaches, good snorkelling and diving with some 25 dive sites. The islands offer three ecosystems: coastal lagoons, mangroves and tropical forest; it is well worth renting a kayak to explore. There are few hotels on the islands; Hotel San Pedro de Majagua is our preferred island hideaway.
The peninsula of Isla Baru is part of the Rosarios National Park and is located 45 minutes by boat or 2-3 hours by car from Cartagena. There are few hotels to choose from, we can offer two lovely properties, namely the lovely Agua Baru Hotel and La Passion de las Islas.
When to go
A year round destination with little variation in the climate, averaging 28 degrees C with short tropical downpours possible at any time of year. There is an increase in rainfall between August and November when the heat and humidity also rises. It is worth noting that Christmas, New Year and Easter are busy periods.
