Hotel Baobab
Hotel Baobab is a unique and impressive wooden construction beside the Huilo Huilo National Reserve, designated a Unesco World Biosphere in 2007. Cosy and friendly with stunning views, it offers high comfort and good service, largely employing local Mapuches (as a result some do not speak English). All 50 rooms have a balcony with forest views, whilst the suites are located at the highest point of the large inverted cone structure with views from the treetops.
Guests will find a good restaurant, a swimming pool and a spa, added in 2009. Activities include various levels of trekking, kayaking, canopy trails, bird watching and even skiing in the winter.
Due to its remote location, it is best reached as part of a self-drive itinerary through the Chilean Lake District combined with the likes of Pucon to the north and/or Puerto Varas to the south. It is also close to Pirihueico Lake, a good point to cross the Andes into Argentina if combining with San Martin de los Andes and Bariloche. A stay at Baobab promises to be a unique experience!
