Barra Mansa Lodge is located at the meeting of the Vazante do Castelo and Negro rivers in the Southern Pantanal, 175 miles from Campo Grande and reached by light aircraft in around 45 minutes. Originally set up as a cattle ranch in the 1940’s, the grandson of the original owner set up an eco-tourism project at the ranch in 1996. Sleeping up to 16 guests, the comfortable rooms have screened windows, air-conditioning and verandas.

This excellent lodge offers a host of activities to suit photographers, fishing enthusiasts, birdwatchers and eco-tourists alike to truly experience the wildlife of this beautiful vast wetland area. The wildlife in the area includes giant otter, caiman, marsh deer, tapir and even the elusive jaguar alongside macaws, toucans and storks and other bird species. Guests can view the fauna on a host of activities including guided excursions, sport fishing, kayaking, boat trips, and horse riding.
