A little more about the Iguaçu Falls
Straddled between the borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, the Iguaçu Falls is a magnificent sight with some 275 individual waterfalls spread across a plateau of almost three kilometres. A visit to both the Brazilian and Argentinean side of the falls is highly recommended to fully appreciate the dramatic spectacle. Almost constant rainbows frame the panoramic views across the Devil’s Throat, split in two by the border, from the Argentine side gaze into the misty depths.
The sub-tropical forest of the Foz do Iguaçu National Park which surrounds the falls, is teeming with exotic birds and wildlife, among them capybara, caiman, toucans, butterflies and coatis. There are even rare sightings of the ever elusive jaguar! Visitors should explore the numerous nature trails that weave along the rim and base of the falls, almost guaranteeing an early morning encounter with mischievous coatis. Make your experience of Iguaçu Falls unforgettable with a Macuco safari and raft along the raging rapids of Rio Iguaçu.
When to go
A year round destination, however March to November is generally considered the best time to visit. The rainy months of May to July are when the falls flow at their peak.
