Pousada Solar do Ingles

Chapada dos Guimarães
Geologically as old as the Andes formation, the Chapada dos Guimarães Tableland with its average 760m high, gives sources to all main rivers and waters that run into the Pantanal. Its waterfalls, creeks, caves and rock formations covered with Cerrado (Savannah-like) vegetation and exotic wildlife, present this National Park with an unbeaten beauty. Mammals are tricky to spot and include the endangered maned wolf whilst it is excellent for birding with red and green Macaw and Blue-winged Macaw both prevalent in the area. An excellent addition to any trip into the Pantanal and the Southern Amazon (Cristalino Lodge).

Pousada Solar do Ingles
Our favourite hotel is the Solar do Ingles, a charming hotel set in the oldest neighbourhood of historic Chapada dos Guimarães town. The hotel is very central, located just two blocks off the main square. Run and owned by an Englishman who has lived in Brazil for the best part of 60 years, guests will find this hotel to be full of interesting antiques and tasteful furnishings. Some rooms are in the main building with additional rooms in an annexe building beside the swimming pool. The pretty gardens are home to various tropical bird species including hummingbirds. A great spot to relax after a busy Pantanal and/or Amazon trip.
