Built in 1997, in the tradition of the steamboats that navigated the Amazon in the late 19th century, with a shallow draft and large volume of the interior space. She underwent major refurbishment in 2003 and has an annual overhaul to keep her high standards. With her traditional design she can follow not only the main river but also smaller tributaries to explore the region fully. Trips on Tucano are not luxury cruises but very comfortable and focus on the forest and its magnificent wildlife.

All outside cabins are large, with one queen size double the remainder are twins, with either two lower berths or bunks. All cabins have individual controlled air conditioning, opening windows with insect screens and private facilities. There is ample deck space for wildlife viewing or simply relaxation in one of the hammocks. The Salon is at the front of the boat affording splendid views of the rainforest throughout the day. The forward balcony allows views to the front and into the treetops.

The Tucano is equipped with small launches which can be used for early morning wildlife cruises and landings for walking tours. All trips will be taken with experienced local guides who will explain the flora and fauna. Please note passengers must be able to get in and out of small boats and walk comfortably for up to two hours at a time in the forest.
