Tierra del Fuego - Ushuaia
Tierra del Fuego lies at the southernmost tip of mainland South America just beyond the Estrecho de Magallanes (Magellan Strait). The core of this enormous island is divided between Chilean territory to the west and Argentinean territory to the east. From the barren windswept plains of the north to the virgin lenga forests and glaciers descending toward the ocean in the south, Tierra del Fuego is a spellbinding destination for those who make it this far.
Perhaps take a catamaran trip on the Beagle Channel, fish in some of the world's finest trout rivers (November to March), or trek in the dramatic scenery of Lapataia National Park. From the southernmost town of Ushuaia nestled on the shores of the Beagle Channel, there are regular boat departures to the islands and fjords of the Patagonian archipelago and also for voyages to Antarctica.
