La Pause - Agafay Desert

Desert, La Pause view Desert, La Pause lunch tent

La Pause is situated just 40 minutes drive from the bustling souks of Marrakech in the midst of the vast Agafay desert. La Pause is the brainchild of Frenchman Frederic Alaime who has created a rustic camp of goat hair Berber tents & traditionally built mud houses which blend with their surroundings perfectly. A visit to La Pause is a worthy addition to any trip to Morocco.

The accommodation at La Pause is comfortable but simplistic. Each of the rooms incorporates as much traditional rustic Moroccan charm as possible. At night the site is lit by flickering lantern light and the warmth of campfires. Meals at La Pause are designed to be enjoyed outside, during the evenings under the fascinating Moroccan starry sky or during the day under the shelter to avoid the warm sun.

During the day activities are very relaxed, from lazing in one of La Pause’s hammock strung in the shade of olive trees or walking, camel or pony trekking into the rolling lunar landscape which surrounds the camp. Whatever the activity, guests will be accompanied by one or two of the camps friendly resident dogs.
