La Bergerie
La Bergerie is a small rural hotel in the heart of the high Atlas, in a wide valley surrouded by mountains, near the small village of Ouirgane. Whether in winter or in summer you will feel at home here. It is half hidden amongst the hills, a couple of kilometres away from a typical, Berber mountain hamlet.
The eight rooms have direct access from a flower-filled interior courtyard and each one has a small private garden on the outside. They are spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated with fine furniture in a pleasant mixture of styles, each room being different. They all have either a fireplace or a wood stove and a private en suite bathroom. The main facilities include a bar and restaurant which are reminiscent of French country houses and offer French and Moroccan traditional cooking. There is a second bar next to the magnificent swimming pool, which has stunning views to the mountains. It is a situated a little away from the main building, separated from it by terraced gardens full of indigenous plants and soft mimosas.
The staff can help to organise trekking in the Toubkal. They also offer mountain bikes for hire and donkey rides to visit nearby Berber villages. From there you can visit the Tin Mal Mosque, one of the only two mosques open to non-muslims in Morocco, on the spectacular mountain road through the Tizi n'Test Pass to Taroundant.
