Nile and Lake Nasser Cruises
The Nile enabled one of the greatest civilizations to grow and flourish. The Pharaohs’ spectacular architectural legacy has captured the imagination of travellers for generations and there still remains no better introduction than a river journey on The Nile.
With so much focus on the Nile, a boat offers the perfect platform from which to access many of the country’s greatest archaeological treasures. There are many boats to choose from but we work with a handful of the smaller ones which we know personally and each of which offers a slightly different experience. Cruises between Luxor and Aswan can take between 3 and 7 nights and you can chose between the ultimate in comfort and luxury onboard The Oberoi Zahra through to a more traditional Nile experience, onboard a dahabiya relying on the river’s currents and the gentle breeze.
Lake Nasser, although less explored is the world's largest artificial lake, formed following the construction of the Aswan Dam in the mid 1960's. At the southern tip now stands the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Abu Simbel, a highlight of any trip to Egypt. When formed the waters of Lake Nasser rose threatening to engulf this ancient temple and so followed the incredible 2 year operation to resite it.
