Lhasa Holidays

Buddhist Statue

Lhasa has an aura of religion and a walk with the pilgrims either within the Jokhang, or on the circuit outside, is a delight. In the expansive grounds of the Summer Palace, you can escape the crowds while further afield, a walk along the shores of Namtso Lake will transport you into a complete wilderness. Standing on a hill in the middle of a valley, the vision of the majestic Potala Palace, which dominates this city, remains a memory that is imprinted on the minds eye for ever. Crimson robed monks drift from prayer hall to temple carrying ancient manuscripts and attending to their daily duties. Nearby there are several other monasteries and in particular the Sera which holds a debating session every afternoon under the shade of the trees in a white-walled courtyard.
