Long Weekend to Moscow and St. Petersburg

Moika Canal, St Peterberg

With only a four hour flight from Heathrow, Moscow and St Petersburg can be perfectly combined on a four or five day trip. Moscow has transformed itself into one of the most exciting and dynamic cities and the restaurants are some of the best in Europe. With new, stylish hotels it remains the perfect starting point for many trips to Russia. Furthermore, while St Petersburg concentrates on European Art, Moscow is the centre for Russian art and artefacts. Two nights is usually enough to give one a taste of this iconic city before taking either an overnight sleeper train to St Petersburg or the new, smart high speed train.

Arrive into St Petersburg in the early morning or late afternoon where you begin your final three nights in a city firmly established as one of the major cultural centres of Europe. With some delightful boutique hotels and the iconic Astoria and Grand Hotel Europe, staying in St Petersburg is a luxury in itself. With over 152 palaces of varying size and importance, a few days can only touch on this beautiful city, however it offers time to explore the Hermitage with its great European art collection, the magnificent gardens and fountains at Peterhof and breathtaking blue and gold of Catherine’s Palace. This long weekend to Moscow and St Petersburg is the perfect introduction to this iconic country.
