A little more about Hong Kong
Hong Kong is considered to be a fusion of two cultures, East and West. A city with something to offer everyone, from great shopping to accessible beaches, local history and culture to sky scraping modern architecture, a wide choice of restaurants and cuisines and an atmospheric nightlife.
Hong Kong has changed very little since the handover of the territory from Britain to China in 1997. Commonly known as one country with two systems - it still retains its own currency and has different policies to the rest of the country.
Easy to get around with English widely spoken, it's a city well worth devoting a few days to either at the beginning or the end of a holiday to China. It is also a good option for families, with its Zoological and Botanical gardens, Ocean Park and Disneyland on Lantau Island.
When to go
The best time to go is the Spring and Autumn (April, May, June, September and October) when the weather is at its best. The rest of the year can be more challenging with winter being cold and overcast and summer very hot, humid and rainy.
