Oman Holidays
Lying between Dubai and Yemen and across the Arabian Sea from Iran, Oman is overtly pro-British and the perfect starting point for an interest in the culture of the Middle East. Squeaky clean (you will be fined if your car is dirty) and sophisticated, it has avoided attracting large package tour groups and prefers to concentrate on the more discerning individual visitor.
Alcohol is freely available within hotels and women are not generally veiled, however we do recommend that you respect the culture of the country and dress accordingly. They still retain strict mores codes concerning their own. It is a traditional city, the men all in their floor length dishdashas and the women hidden behind their black veils.
Good roads connect all the main centres and, being quite compact, a holiday to Oman can either be based at one hotel with interesting day trips, or can involve staying in different places giving a little more variety and greater insight into the country. There are half a dozen very good hotels to choose from, each with their own attributes, largely defined by whether the beach in front of the hotel is private or public. This in turn governs what can be worn when swimming.
Uncomplicated, Oman holidays have remained a firm favourite of our clients for many years.
