The Bekaa Valley
This area of the country is best known for the beautiful site of Baalbek - known as the ‘Sun City’ of the ancient world which is home to some of the most impressive ancient Roman sites in Lebanon. Even hardened sceptics and temple weary tourists fall open-mouthed when confronted by the sheer size and scale of Baalbek.
Also found in the area are the remains of the Middle Easts only Umayyad town at Aanjar and this is the area to sample some of Lebanons wonderful wine at one of the many vineyards.
