A little more about the Cultural Triangle
The Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka comprises of Anuradhapura, founded in the 5th century BC and venerated as the capital city for Buddhism. Polonnaruwa was Sri Lanka’s medieval capital where art and architecture were revived.

Sigirya (sometimes known as Lion Rock) was built in the 5th century BC as a fortress and Dambulla the largest cave monastery in the country. This area is well worth a visit for these sites but also found here are elephants, birds and huge swathes of natural landscape.
