A little more about Bentota
Located in south western Sri Lanka, Bentota is situated close to the larger settlement of Beruwela. It has been developed into the country's main package resort region, with locals flooding to the pristine beaches and glistening waters during the warm summer months.
Although mainly considered for its white sandy beaches, the region does have a fascinating history. It offers some surprising architectural delights including The Kechimalai Mosque, along with an intriguing array of mosques, churches and temples.
There is little to attract the more pioneering and adventurous travellers looking for an off the beaten track experience, however it does offer a great relaxing beach destination. The perfect conclusion to an adventurous Sri Lankan holiday.
When to go
Sri Lanka can be visited year round. The majority of sites are best visited between November to March but the coast is blessed with plenty of sun pretty much all year.
