Peshawar Holidays
Peshawar is very different to Lahore and is considered to be Pakistan’s pure frontier town. Bustling full of Afghanis, you can buy anything here from a bicycle to a missile!
Atmosphere is everything in Peshawar and the old parts of the city are full of hectic meandering bazaars, best known for their carpets. The sights and smells whilst wandering around the streets are amazing and enticing. Peshawar is a key example of the modern world colliding with a traditional place of a bygone era.
It is also an important city as it guards the gateway into Afghanistan through the Khyber Pass, which has been an important trading route for many centuries. Ride a steam train to the border through tunnels once defended by British troops where outposts such as Churchill's Picket can still be seen on the mountainsides. To the West and south of the city, highways lead into the independent Tribal Areas where government writ vanishes the second you step off the main road.
