Pokhara
Travellers arrive in Pokhara to the most spectacular setting – the perfect pyramid of Mt Machhapuchhare which looms high over Pokhara Town and its stunning reflection in the calm waters of Tal Lake. Pokhara is a gateway to the Himalayas, the end point for the famous Annapurna circuit trek and the start point for many other treks into the Annapurna range. For some it represents a last chance to stock up before heading for the mountains however if you aren't a dedicated trekker, there's plenty here for you too. Pokhara has numerous museums and there are some fascinating caves, waterfalls and Tibetan villages in the surrounding hills.
