Tamil Nadu and Karnataka - Southern India Holidays
The dominant features of these 2 regions are the tropical climate, lush green vegetation in the coastal areas and the architecture, culture, languages and lifestyle at the core. Between the two long coastlines of the south Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are arguably India’s most interesting states, each with its own distinct identity and are appealingly less visited than their neighbours.
Tamil Nadu and Chennai, once known as the Coromandel Coast boast some of the most remarkable temple architecture in India. Together with temple towns like Kanchipuram, Tanjore and Madurai and the former French territory of Pondicherry with its own distinctive colonial inheritance, this is a rewarding state to visit. Tamil Nadu combines beautifully with a drive over the lush, green hills of the western Ghats into Kerala for a relaxing end to your tour.
Karnataka offers the visitor a mix of interests, in particular the distinctive architectural styles like those found in the haunting Hampi. Karnataka is a vast state and travel within it usually involves long car journeys or an internal flight, however it is well worth it. With an abundance of ancient sites, scenically diverse countryside containing stunning national parks and pristine coastline and Bangalore at its core, it should not be ignored on a visit to Southern India.
