Trip Overview
This varied and fascinating journey starts in the capital Delhi before flying you up to Amritsar, home to the holiest Sikh site, the Golden Temple. Visit the temple at dawn and witness the ceremony of closing the border between India and Pakistan. From here you continue to Basunti, a peaceful lakeside retreat, excellent for yoga, walking and bird watching. You then cross into the neighbouring region of Himachal Pradesh to visit the now home of the Dalai Lama at Dharamshala and the rock sculpture garden at Chandigarh. The journey ends with a visit to the historical British hill station of Shimla and a few days relaxing at the Oberoi Wildflower Hall.
