Tour Summary
To understand the religious and cultural history of India, travellers must visit the south where Hindu traditions survive most strongly. In this lush, rolling landscape, temple towers gleam through the palm trees and ancient cults still flourish. Huge towers are covered with brightly painted figures and prayer and music halls surround the sacred shrines.

Yet this is not a colourful relic of a bygone faith, but the home of a vibrant living tradition. The charming people of the south, with their love of colourful flowers and bright textiles, and their distinctive vegetarian cuisine make this a delightful place in which to absorb the culture of a lesser-known part of India.
