Vietnam Holidays
Devastated by the war, Vietnam has pulled itself out of the economic doldrums to become a vibrant and expanding country. A land of architectural and cultural contrasts emphasised by the tropical south to the cooler climate of the north. The French influence is very clear to see both in the food and the architecture which add a distinctive style to this remarkable country. The coastal area provides to a fascinating collection of sites which include Khmer temples, beautifully preserved old Chinese towns, the myriad of waterways which make up the Mekong delta, the dragon's teeth in Halong Bay and the French colonial splendour of Hanoi.
Slightly too much emphasis can sometimes be placed on visiting the better known battlefields, although a few places, such as the extraordinary tunnel complex at Cu Chi, clearly demonstrate the tenacity of the people. In the north and inland, there are some remote tribal areas to be found for those willing to take the time to trek up into the hills on their Vietnam holidays.
Visits to national parks, trips by boat or trekking in the hills of the north are just the tip of the iceberg as Vietnam has endless travel potential.
