Southern Islands
The southern Thailand Islands stretch from just south of Bangkok down to the Malaysian border and are one of the many attractions Thailand has to offer. From diving off Ko Tao, to climbing in Krabi, kayaking off Phuket to laying back in a hammock; southern Thailand has something to offer for all interests.
The most visited of the southern islands are Phuket, Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngan, Ko Lanta and Ko Tao: these are just a small selection of the vast expanse of Islands. Over the past few years this region of Thailand has seen the largest amount of development, including the range of accommodation options. Once a coastline comprising of simple beach side huts, this has now dramatically changed, and luxurious resorts now take priority, including Pimalai Resort & Spa, in Koh Lanta, The Sarojin and Rayavadee Resort in Krabi. Each of the resorts are set in prime locations on the islands and offer sublime private beaches amongst additional sumptuous extras.
The east coast islands are also well developed and are now easily reached from the mainland via ferry connections or internal flights. Ko Samui is the biggest of the eastern islands and is developing at a rapid pace. For diving enthusiasts Ko Tao is the best place to go, the majority of the other islands offer superb diving as the crystal clear waters offer perfect conditions and the coral and marine life around the islands is phenomenal.
The southern Thailand Islands offer a magical quality, they are a great place to relax after spending the day snorkeling or diving in the magnificent coastal reefs and the perfect way to end a holiday to Thailand.
