The Pavilion
Located in the historical centre of Phnom Penh, the Pavilion is just a few steps from the Royal Palace and faces Wat Botum - the Royal Pagoda.
Queen Kossamak, King Sihanouk's mother, reportedly built the main villa in the mid-twenties. Living here brought her closer to the Royal Pagoda, where she often liked to pray. The architecture is an original combination of Khmer and French colonial styles.
Her villa has been turned to an intimate 20-room hotel, with the addition of a neighbouring building, known by the 1960's Phnom-Penhers as the Royal Palace's veterinarian's Residence.
The tropical garden, pool and spa are surrounded by high walls, protecting their intimacy from the city.
