Sabah Holidays

Malaysia, Malaysian Borneo, Sabah, Orang

This fascinating part of Malaysia entices travellers to explore and discover vast national parks and lush rainforests, but its main draw is the wonderful Orangutan. A favoured place by many travellers is Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and Sanctuary offering a true insight into the lives of this remarkable and sadly endangered species.

Sabah is dominated by the majestic peak of Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in South East Asia, and travellers who make the technically easy, if strenuous climb, can be rewarded with magnificent panoramic views.

The Kinabatangan River is home to the weird and wonderful proboscis monkey and heading deeper into Sabah you will find Danum Valley where some of the islands most pristine rainforest can be found. A stay here at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge can reward you with canopy walkways, jungle treks, bathing in waterfalls and a huge variety of wildlife.

Off the north coast of Sabah lie many idyllic islands perfect for swimming, snorkelling and diving during the warm day and, at nightfall, many offer the opportunity to view turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs or hatchlings being released.

The waterside capital city of Kota Kinabalu is home to a Filipino market and just off the coast lie 5 islands which make up the Tunku Abdul Rahman National park. These islands are home to a number of the more luxurious accommodation options now available in Borneo including Bunga Raya Island resort and spa & Gayana Eco Lodge.
