History is omnipresent in this spectacularly located metropolis on the shores of the Bosphorus, yet it also has a vibrant living dynamic as seen in the bustle of its streets and in its colourful bazaars. Turkey’s largest city, a place where East meets West and traditional and modern exist side by side, is spread over seven hills and with its numerous UNESCO World Heritage sites, it is easy to see why it was chosen as a European Capital of Culture in 2010.
