Masseria San Domenico

Masseria San Domenico Masseria San Domenico

Masseria San Domenico lies only 500 metres from the Adriatic coast in the Puglia region of Italy half way between the cities of Bari and Brindisi. Masseria, a term mainly used in Southern Italy, refers to an ancient wine-producing farm or estate. The building of the masseria itself goes back to the 15th century, when it was used by the Knights of Malta as a watch tower. In the early 1990s it was lovingly restored and expanded, keeping the original structure and style of the masseria. Masseria San Domenico opened as a 5 star boutique hotel in 1996. It comprises 48 atmospheric rooms and suites, tastefully furnished in a traditional style and most with view on the 100 hectares of olives groves and orchards belonging to the estate.

Masseria San Domenico is also home to one of Italy’s best Thalassotherapy spas with a great variety of treatments using seawater and seaweed found in the nearby Adriatic Sea, a huge and magnificent outdoor swimming pool filled with seawater, two tennis courts, a modern gym, sauna, steam bath and traditional spa as well as a new 18-hole golf course.

Culture wise, there are the ruins and museum of Egnathia close by as well as the UNESCO world heritage protected historic town of Alberobello with it’s famous “Trulli” houses.

Masseria San Domenico is member of the Leading Small Hotels of the World since 2003.
