An eclectic mix of styles influenced the design of this bright and bohemian collection of cottages and villas that line the intermittently rocky and sandy shore of Jamaica’s south coast. The Garden cottages are surrounded by vegetation and the Ocean Fronts are supremely private opening out onto wooden decks that look straight out to sea.
The restaurant uses freshly sourced ingredients purchased from local farmers and fishermen but if you just fancy a snack then Jack Spratt’s café serves up some very tasty Jamaican nibbles and coffee.
There are some great local activities available from Jakes. Explore the wetland preserve of the Grand Morass in search of crocodiles, manatees and birdlife, spend a day treating yourself to an aqua-massage under the YS Falls, hop into a motor launch to head out to the Pelican Bar, a rickety shack built on a shoal almost a mile from shore for a rum or a Red Stripe in the middle of the sea. Or, the Driftwood Spa offers a range of relaxing and rejuvenating treatments combining techniques from around the world with natural Jamaican folk medicine.
