Hotel Florida
Hotel Florida is set within an area of small art galleries and attractive museums, within easy walking distance from Plaza de Armas (Arms Square), Old Havana.
Formerly a private mansion, this stately building was erected in 1836 and opened as a hotel in 1885. The architectural splendour of this era still reigns in the Hotel Florida, from colonial balconies to interior courtyards complete with archways and attractive stained glass windows. A winding staircase leads guests to 25 well-equipped rooms, all tastefully furnished with wrought iron-frame beds, marble bathtubs and genuine antiques. Excellent people watching opportunities can be enjoyed from the rooms that open out over the street, but can be a bit noisy.
Hotel Florida also houses an air-conditioned restaurant, cafe-bar and an upper-storey piano bar.
