Finca Lerida Lodge
Finca Lerida is a bird watching haven nestled in a 500 acre private nature reserve and coffee plantation on the eastern slopes of Volcan Baru, a short drive from Boquete.
Guests who visit Finca Lerida often come to take advantage of expertly routed trails throughout the cloud forest, designed to enhance the possibilities of glimpsing Resplendent Quetzal, Collared Trogon, Orange-bellied Trogon, Bellbirds, Dark Pewee, Silvery-throated Tanager and Sulphur-winged Parakeets among many others recorded in this bird replete area.
Finca Lerida poses two different bed and breakfast options; Finca Lerida Ecolodge offering 11 double rooms at the centre of the small coffee plantation and Finca Lerida House, the original Scandinavian style family home converted to accommodate 3 suites and 2 bedrooms. Eco-lodge rooms feature one king or two queen beds, a bedside table, private bathroom, rich dark hardwood floors, sloping ceilings, and a private partitioned terrace overlooking the forest beyond. Farmhouse suites are generally much larger than the two guest rooms, with an adjoining bedroom and views overlooking the beautiful Jacaranda tree or gardens filled with bougainvillea. Suites and guestrooms inside the old house also benefit from the communal lounge and cosy fireplace.
Aside from exploring the superb flora and fauna opportunities in the nearby cloud forest, Finca Lerida is one of the oldest and most renowned coffee plantations in the area, producing 1,200-2,000 bags a year exported to Europe, North America and Japan. The delicious aroma of coffee roasted daily and served in the small Coffee House is almost too irresistible and guests are welcome to join an interactive tour around the plantation and the processing plant which includes coffee cupping and roasting.
