Built in Belgium in 1991, Star Flyer and her sister ship Star Clipper were the first clipper ships since 1911 to be granted the certificate of highest quality by Lloyd's Register of Shipping. She harks back to a bygone era but with all the modern comforts of a more traditional cruise ship. With 4 masts and 16 sails covering 36,000 sq feet, this is a true tall ship and the sails are used as frequently as possible.

Carrying up to 170 passengers in 85 cabins spread over 4 decks, she offers a wide range of cabin types. All cabins are compact but well designed, with lots of doors and drawers to keep everything in place when under sail. All have en-suite facilities, some configured with twin beds and others a double. The atmosphere onboard is relaxed and informal with open seating for meals.  Most meals are buffet style and feature an international menu. At 360 feet she has extensive teak decks, two swimming pools, bars and a library.
