Hacienda Puerta Campeche
Hacienda Puerta Campeche embodies a series of colonial era houses in a fort like haven adjacent to the original Puerta de Tierra (‘Land Gate’) in the historic walled city of Campeche.
The original buildings house 15 brightly coloured rooms and suites with 18-ft high ceilings revealing exposed rafters or beams, glossy chequer-board or rustic Mayan tiles, dark tropical hardwood furnishings and picture-style windows framed by tall wooden shutters.
The splendour of Hacienda Puerta Campeche is emphasized by its most alluring feature, the unique pool that flows through secret alcoves inside the borders of original 17th century stone walls, converging into a partially enclosed pool at the main house. ‘La Guardia’ is the main restaurant, serving a fusion of Spanish and Mexican flavours in a relaxed setting overlooking the pool and fragrant gardens that embrace the hacienda.
Hacienda Puerta Campeche is close to many galleries and cafes. Guests wishing to explore beyond Campeche are within comfortable driving distance of Edzna and the sombrero capital of Becal.
