Hacienda Chichen

Hacienda Chichen ext Hacienda Chichen room

This former 16th century hacienda once served as the headquarters for the Carnagie Institute’s Mayan excavations during the early 1920’s. The numerous bungalows scattered around the hacienda originally housed archaeologists and scholars, now restored to accommodate guests, just steps away from the magnificent ruins of Chichen Itza.

From the main house, a series of walkways meander through tropical gardens and past fountains to 12 historical cottages, each named according to their former archaeologist resident. The cottages accommodate a total of 28 guestrooms and suites each with white alabaster decor, exposed wooden beams, tiled floors, and wrought iron and carved wood furnishings. A private garden terrace or balcony offers tranquil views across the manicured gardens dotted with tropical fruit trees and tall shady palms.

Aside from exploring the archaeological site at Chichen Itza, guests can indulge in a range of Mayan healing therapies at Hacienda Chichen’s holistic eco-spa or enjoy a refreshing swim in the large outdoor pool and relax with a good book underneath a parasol on the sundeck. Hacienda Chichen also offers Mayan gourmet cuisine in the terrace restaurant, reputed to be the most exquisite dining experience in the area.
