Tour Summary
On December 21st, 2012 the ancient Maya Long Count Calendar will complete a 5125 year cycle. Will this result in a new age of spiritual enlightenment, an apocalyptic end to the world or simply the start of a new Maya calendar count? To celebrate this auspicious event and a culture that was well ahead of its time, we’ve devised a tour that explores the world of the Maya in Guatemala, Mexico and Honduras. The tour will visit sites that chart the beginnings of Maya civilization and the early formation of their calendar and hieroglyphic writing. You will also visit some of their largest and most impressive settlements at Copan and Tikal, cities of huge temple complexes, now inhabited by coatis and howler monkeys, passing through some of Latin America’s most beautiful scenery to get there. So, where will you be on December 21st?
