Hotel Atitlan
Born from the wealth of a thriving coffee farm, Hotel Atitlan is nestled above a magnificent maze of terraced gardens sloping gently down towards the shores of Lake Atitlan.
Sweeping views of Lake Atitlan and its steep verdant hills dominated by enormous volcanoes, is a sight to behold, especially from the comfort of each of the 60 guest rooms. Each room is custom designed with individual furnishings carved in the hotels own workshop and elaborate textiles hand-woven locally by Mayan weavers. A smattering of local indigenous artworks and paintings by Guatemalan artists further characterise each room.
Regional cuisine and a selection of international dishes are prepared with locally produced organic ingredients and served to guests next to splendid lakeside views from the restaurant dining area. During the evening, sip a cocktail on the terrace and admire breathtaking sunsets across Lake Atitlan.
Meandering pathways trailing through glorious gardens of hibiscus and bougainvillea lead to the refreshing hotel pool and Jacuzzi. The hotel gift shop specialises in unique Guatemalan artisans such as ethnic jewellery, ceramics and wood carvings, found nowhere else in the country. Lake Atitlan is surrounded by innumerable indigenous villages and towns worthy of exploration. Panajachel is just 5 minutes from the hotel and thereon, the scenic stronghold of Tz'utujil people at Santiago Atitlan is 30 minutes away.
