Palacio Dona Leonor
Steeped in rich Spanish colonial heritage, Palacio Dona Leonor is a testament to the strength and vitality of its former owner Dona Leonor, daughter of Spanish conquistador Don Pedro de Alvarado.
This magnificent 16th century colonial mansion houses a collection of 12 opulent suites nestled around a beautifully maintained inner courtyard. Each suite is attributed to the name and personality of a Dona Leonor family member. An elaborate chandelier hangs gracefully from the enormous vaulted ceiling inside each bedchamber, kept snug in the evenings by a working fireplace. The king size or two double bedsteads are as unique as the décor, ranging from intricate wrought ironworks to fairytale-style mounted drapes. Each spacious bathroom comprises a separate bathtub and shower facility. Natural light floods into each room from the tall wooden panelled doors that open out to the verdant courtyard and its grand water fountain or with a view toward Catedral de Santiago.
Palacio Dona Leonor eagerly assists its guests with dinner reservations, local navigation and recreational activities. The hotel benefits from being just half a block from Antigua’s Parque Central, a haven for shopping and for exploring the famous churches and ruins strewn throughout this UNESCO World Heritage town.
