Casa Encantada
Casa Encantada is a very charming boutique hotel, tucked away in the cobblestone streets of Antigua and near to many local attractions including Central Plaza, and the National Museum.
Stone tiled passage ways illuminated by flickering candles set the ambience of this colonial gem, some argue it is more like ‘coming home’ than a mere overnight stay. Casa Encantada houses 9 custom-designed guestrooms, crowned by a magnificent rooftop suite boasting superb views across the rooftops of Antigua and Volcano Agua. Each guest room is dominated by a beautiful wrought iron queen-size poster bed dressed with crisp linens, bold coloured throws and a generous heap of plump pillows. Romantic chateau-style wooden shutters, hand carved armoires and a smattering of religious relics and framed ceremonial huipils are just some of the finer details invested into each individual room. Each en-suite bathroom offers a large walk-in shower, and to ensure a peaceful night sleep, exterior rooms also offer double-paned windows. The grand Rooftop Suite offers sumptuous accommodation with pitched rough-hewn beams hovering gracefully above an open plan master bedroom and lounge area, featuring an elegant Antigua-style fireplace built into the corner. In addition, the enormous en-suite bathroom benefits from a walk-in shower and a deep, stone set, soaking tub.
An inviting plunge pool with reclining sun lounges is situated in a pretty courtyard near the hotel lobby, and guests can savour a traditional Antiguan breakfast or sun-downer cocktail on the rooftop terrace.
