Tortuga Lodge
Set within 50 acres of private land Tortuga Lodge is a wonderful place to stay in Tortuguero.
Tortuga is situated on the mainland side of the canal, easily reached from the small airstrip. It is delightful to see the wildlife just on your door step here, indeed it is not uncommon to see iguanas lazing in the garden and Howler monkeys resting in the canopy above. Aiming to create an eco friendly stay in this protected land in Costa Rica, the lodge recycles water and has significantly reduced the amount of electricity consumption.
The rooms are in blocks of four and six built in lodges of two storeys, each room has a veranda facing the canal and private bathroom. All of the rooms have a cosy log cabin feel with an all wood interior.
The restaurant has seating overlooking the river, serving a mixture of local and international cuisine by an excellent chef. Set in the beautiful gardens featuring palms, and orchids there is a swimming pool offering a relief from the heat and a refreshing cool dip. Internet access is provided and tours can be arranged at the hotel.
