Shawandha Lodge
Shawandha Lodge is a boutique-style resort tucked away amongst beautiful tropical gardens less than 200 metres from Playa Chiquita, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca.
This small and intimate resort comprises 13 spacious bungalows dotted around gardens against a backdrop of thick rainforest and connected by a meandering walkway lit by lanterns. All bungalows are spacious with palm thatched roofs and rustic interiors. Simple hardwood and bamboo furnishings are complemented by subtle tropical décor, and the ceramic bathrooms with a shower stall feature intricate mosaic designs. Ceiling fans help to keep each bungalow cool, while the entrance deck is strung with hammocks for additional comfort.
The French owners offer an eclectic fusion of spicy Caribbean specialities combined with rich French flavours in the rancho style open-air restaurant. Exotic cocktails are enjoyed by candlelight in the comfortable lounge area.
Shawandha Lodge does not have a pool but is just minutes from the peaceful coconut palm-fringed sands of Playa Chiquita. Surfing enthusiasts can head for the Salsa Brava reef break at Playa Cocles, one mile away. There is a selection of bars and cafés in Playa Chiquita or for those in search of vibrant nightlife, Puerto Viejo is just a short taxi ride away.
