Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge
Accessed only by boat, Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge embraces adventure from its own private bay surrounded by acres of rainforest in Piedras Blancas National Park on the shores of Golfo Dulce.
This environmentally sensitive lodge offers rainforest-chic accommodation that co-exists with nature in the depths of unspoiled forest. Constructed almost entirely from naturally fallen trees and recycled materials, the lodge offers 5 individual cabins consisting of one or two bedrooms, and 4 guest rooms located in the Mango Guesthouse. Each room is decked with hardwood flooring and beautiful hand-carved louver doors that wrap around the room to reveal a private terrace with an open-air garden shower. Canopied twin or queen beds sit before extensive rainforest views beyond the terrace. The Cabin Suite, with removable partition walls, provides accommodation for up to 5 guests and is particularly ideal for families.
Candle-lit trails lead to the main lodge which resembles a huge open-air tree house with a terrace bar overlooking the rainforest and Golfo Dulce. Ideal for star gazing, the dining terrace also offers a relaxed setting for delicious family-style meals inspired by local recipes.
Days at Playa Nicuesa are filled with adventure. Choose from many exhilarating activities including kayaking on Esquinas River and through mangroves, to exploring the exuberant surroundings along numerous nature trails while spotting for howler monkeys and scarlet macaws. Whether you wish to dangle a line idly from the pier, troll through hidden coves or head offshore into the Pacific – fishing tours at Playa Nicuesa offer many rich rewards - you may even find yourself catching supper! Alternatively, practise yoga based on the teachings of Iyengar, Kripalu and Kundalini, with a qualified instructor on the open air deck, or indulge in therapeutic massage in the privacy of your room or on the black pebbly beach close to the lodge.
