North Pacific Coast
The Nicoya Peninsula is one of Costa Rica's most secluded gems with its base resting in the arid lowlands of Guanacaste province. From its rugged interior the mountains sweep gently down into the Pacific Ocean, creating some of the most beautiful and solitary beaches of Costa Rica. While Guanacaste is known for its dry climate, the southern part of the Nicoya Peninsula receives more rain annually, making it a transitional zone between dry forest climate and tropical rainforest. The wildlife here is common to both ecosystems and many animals are seasonal commuters. The North Pacific Coast is also popular for its beautiful beaches, awesome surfing and fishing.
