Fonda Vela is a well-established family-run hotel in Santa Elena, nestled on a verdant mountainside with views out towards the Gulf of Nicoya.
A collection of 40 rooms, including junior suites, are dispersed amongst 9 attractive alpine-style chalets dotted throughout 35 acres of lush landscaped gardens. Each guest room is spacious with two queen-size beds, beautiful hand carved wooden furnishings, a private bathroom, and large windows framing superb vistas across rolling pastures. Junior suites comprise a king-size bed or two queen-size beds, lounge area with comfy sofa, small fridge, and if you can tear yourself away from the extensive views offered from your private balcony most suites also have cable television. For families and small groups, Hotel Fonda Vela also offers rooms with three beds.
Occasional live music and beautiful sunset views add to the ambience of ‘The Galeria’ restaurant which serves a menu of both local and international cuisine. Alternatively, ‘The Fireside Room’ offers wholesome food in an intimate cosy setting adjacent to the ‘Canopy Bar’.
Hotel Fonda Vela maintains almost 1 mile of private nature trails, ideal for a leisurely early morning stroll and bird watching. In addition, Monteverde Cloud Forest, the Children’s Eternal Rainforest and the Hummingbird Gallery are all within walking distance of the hotel.
