Makanda By The Sea
Makanda by the Sea is an intimate retreat tucked away on a mountainside amongst 12 acres of thick tropical forest fringing the Central Pacific coastline between Quepos and Manuel Antonio.
Suited to adults seeking privacy, the resort encompasses just 7 villas and 5 studios. Three studios are housed beneath the largest villa which can be interconnected to accommodate up to eight guests. Each unit offers private access via gardens, patios and stairwells with large picture frame doors at the rear folding out onto a spacious terrace facing the Pacific Ocean. Decorated to a high standard and furnished with exotic hardwood carvings, a large built-in sofa, and attractive handcrafted tiles, each unit also comprises a kitchenette and an ample shower room. Enclosed Japanese-style rock gardens encircle each unit, offering the ideal setting for quiet repose. Villa's also feature beautiful vaulted ceilings.
Shrouded in sheer purple drapes, Sunspot Restaurant offers a romantic setting next to the pool for relishing gourmet cuisine, while breakfast is delivered directly to each villa and studio every morning. Spa services tended in the privacy of each villa and studio can also be organised.
An inviting sundeck borders the Jacuzzi and freeform infinity pool, both residing on a ledge overlooking lush vegetation out to sea. Alternatively, a secluded beach is situated a 10-15 minute walk downhill from the resort. For more active pursuits, canopy tours, fishing excursions, nature trails and kayaking can all be appointed locally and at Manuel Antonio National Park.
