Kanantik Reef & Jungle Resort
Named one of the Top Resorts in the Conde Naste Readers Choice Award 2010
Kanantik Reef & Jungle Resort resides in a remote jungle paradise that slopes gently onto a private white sandy beach, 18 miles south of Dangriga.
A wooden boardwalk meandering through soft sand branches off toward 25 individual cabanas set along the shoreline. Each air-conditioned cabana features an enormous palm thatched roof soaring above glossy hardwood floors siting a spacious and airy interior. Tasteful furnishings hand carved from local Belizean hardwoods, including a four poster king or two double canopied beds, are charming features to all cabanas. Each private bathroom offers a refreshing rain shower. Wraparound verandas offer sublime views across the Caribbean Sea, coupled with the opportunity to glimpse hummingbirds that dart around the surrounding gardens.
Sample a fusion of Creole-Mediterranean specialities, including a selection of authentic Italian recipes savoured by the Italian owners, underneath the palapa roofed restaurant. The freshwater freeform pool and Jacuzzi are just steps from the deserted palm-fringed beach where guests also have access to complimentary kayaks for local exploration.
Two observation towers set high in the surrounding jungle offer a particularly good vantage to photographers and guests alike, especially at sunrise amid the squawks and chatter of waking birds. Kanantik Reef & Jungle Resort also operates two commercial diving boats with diving gear available at no extra cost, enabling fully certified divers the opportunity to explore the Southern Barrier Reef on two daily excursions. Snorkelling is also popular, visiting the reef and offshore at South Water Cayes Island. Further activities include frequent river canoe visits to Cabbage Haul Creek and Sapodillo Lagoon to spot crocodiles and the elusive manatee.
