Pooks Hill Lodge
Situated on the foothills of the magnificent Maya Mountains in a 300 acre private reserve buffed by the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and the Roaring River, Pooks Hill Lodge offers a warm welcome and memorable rainforest experience in a charming setting.
Pooks Hill Lodge encompasses just 11 pebble and thatch cabanas nestled around a small ancient Mayan plaza on a rolling hillside. Each individual cabana offers simple rustic accommodation for up to two guests with a private bathroom featuring a large walk in shower. Guatemalan textiles add a splash of bold colour to the interiors coupled with a small collection of local artworks and hardwood furnishings.
Delicious Caribbean and Belizean meals are served family-style in the main lodge alongside the bar on a candle lit veranda overlooking the rainforest. During the day, Pooks Hill Lodge offers a full programme of excursions to various sites of interest including to the Actun Tunichil Muknal, a series of intriguing Mayan cave chambers hidden deep within the rainforest. Aside from the hummingbirds that frequently dart around the lodge, Pooks Hill is a good location for spotting a variety of birds from toucans to motmots. Trails into the rainforest can be explored by foot or horseback and swimming in the caves and cool waters of the Roaring River are equally rewarding activities.
