The Lodge at Chaa Creek
Set alongside the banks of Macal River and at the foothills of the magnificent Maya Mountains, Chaa Creek is an established eco lodge that successfully blends refined comfort with a unique wilderness adventure.
A collection of 24 bay leaf thatched cottages, 4 suites and 2 villas are scattered along the riverbank and throughout well-maintained gardens. All accommodation is beautifully appointed with hand carved mahogany and rattan furnishings interlaced with bold splashes of colour from fine fabrics and Mexican-style tiles. Screened windows offer a good source of natural light to each unit with tall patio doors opening out on to a private sundeck furnished with hammocks and deck chairs.
Resting high above the Macal River in the verdant canopy, two treetop suites offer extraordinary panoramic views of the surrounding forest. Ideal for honeymoon couples seeking privacy, these unique suites can also be converted to accommodate up to four guests with a spacious lounge area and sundeck with Jacuzzi. The lavish garden suites can be combined to accommodate up to five guests or separated to provide accommodation in two private units, with a shared terrace. Perched on a grassy ridge overlooking the river, the Macal Cottage accommodates up to three guests in an enormous open plan design that features an elaborate king size bed and oversized day bed. The Orchard Villa is designed for families or small groups of up to six guests in two queen-size bays and a loft with twin beds. A full bathroom is featured on both floors respectively. In addition, the Spa Villa is an exclusive option for up to seven guests in three bedrooms with two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, well-stocked bar, an enormous glass-walled lounge and a wrap around terrace with Jacuzzi.
A la carte lunches and a connoisseur evening menu combining local recipes with Caribbean and Mexican flavours are savoured alfresco-style beneath the palm thatched dining area.
If the tranquil setting at Chaa Creek wasn’t relaxing enough, the superb hilltop spa offers a full range of therapeutic herbal treatments to soothe away any woes. The bi-level freshwater pool, surrounded by a generous sundeck, offers cool refreshment in the shade of large broadleaf trees. Chaa Creek Lodge also hosts a full programme of on-site activities including visits to the butterfly farm, hiking and mountain bike trails, horse riding and canoe excursions.
